Yes there are two main types of BMX rims 406 and 451's. Both are 20 inch rims/wheels. The 451's are usually thinner and have alot of small width road bike style tires. (Probably have some wider style rims and tires as well, I just haven't run across them). Although, it seems that most mini velos from Asia use 451 wheels/rims.
406's are more of a BMX rim/wheel but my Mini velo, the Mercier Nano, utilizes 406 rims, I think because BMX bikes are more prevalent in the US therefore more options would be available to US buyers.

That being said it seems most BMX bikes utilize a very wide rim/tire so as a Nano owner I have to be mindful of rim width as the nano can only take a tire as wide as 1.75 inches, that shouldn't matter too much but I am trying to be overly cautious before purchasing handmade wheels
