Bikes: Apollo mountain bike

Had to happen...first stack!

I knew it was just a matter of time, statistically speaking of course. On my morning commute today, I had my first stack. It happened something like this...

I was coming around a sweeping bend on a path when I misjudged the curve and my front tyre popped over the edge of the path onto the grass. There were trees on that side, so I tried to get it back on track, but unfortunately the path was about an inch or so higher than the grass, so the tyre couldn't get back up. A combination of my speed, my tyre scraping alongside the edge of the path and the slight downhill, off camber slope of the track saw me drop the bike and hit the grass on the opposite side of the path.

I consider myself lucky for a few reasons:
1. It happened out of view from most commuters, so the embarrassment level was relatively low
2. It happened away from traffic and other potentially dangerous situations
3. I landed on the relatively soft grass resulting in only a grass stain on my right shoulder and some minor bruising to my right upper ribs - must have fell on my trapped elbow or something.

Even though I was largely unhurt (and my bike totally unscathed), it still slowed me done a bit for the next km or so. Hope that's the last of them.
