Second crown race for requent fork swapping
Hi guys,
I have been discouraged by my very experienced LBS from using my (new) coil suspension fork in (Canadian) winter commuting weather to avoid internal rusting from salt water intrusion. I have a rigid fork anyways, so that I could just swap them twice a year. In any case, it seems less work than the decrease in service intervals on a winter-used suspension fork.
What I do not have is a second crown race (and swapping crown races seems like a bad and tedious idea to me long-term). Thus my question:
If I wanted to get a second crown race, what do I need to look out for to get a matching part? Is there a sizing system?
This fork is a 1 1/8 steerer. Will have to take the headset apart to confirm manufacturer, still. Where can I find spare crown races?
Thanks!
