Yeah. I was about to mention SE Michigan. Having also lived in Ann Arbor for a while and experiencing some of the roads there, I'd have to say that a MTB is almost essential for commuting. And you're right about the excessively high weight limit. I think the residential street I lived off of had a weight limit of 40,000lbs. What's the point? I loved their concept of road repair which amounted to dumping a pile of hot asphalt into the hole and letting the cars that drive over it smooth it over. Of course what happens in reality is that the cars just pick up the asphalt and all you get is a lot of unhappy drivers with road tar all over their vehicles while leaving a bunch of untouched potholes behind.
