We bought a Joe Blow just before Performance closed their local store. I have presta valves on my bikes and my wife has Schrader valves on her recumbent trike. Since day one, the chuck has worked flawlessly with the presta valves but has been a hit or miss with the Schrader valves. Mostly a miss. Doesn't seem to want to latch on to the valve properly to where you can add air. She got so frustrated that she bought another pump just for her bike. Personally, I think it's a great pump for presta valves; not so much for Schrader.
