Ha, awesome. I feel a little goofy having to walk around with my bike in those situations too.
As for the rain, my gF and I just bought sets of planet bike clip-on fenders. No more grit/sludge skunk-stripes for us. I never really rode with fenders before. Probably the most functional bike accessory I've ever purchased.
