Maybe the whole thing could have been avoided. I guess if it had been me, I would have waited to accelerate until I was clear of them, just as if I were driving a car.
What can I say, they looked my way when they decided to cross the street initially, and I was wearing a freaking ANSI lime jersey. What more could I do to make myself seen other than yell out "Hey don't run back into the street without looking because I am coming at you at 20 MPH on my bike!!"?
Give me a break.
Obviously now I will ride slow period if there are kids around, but don't criticize me for an accident anyone (even you) could have had.
The kid should be lucky he didn't run out in front of the Prius that the guy down the street from him has. That thing is quieter than me on my bike and weights at least 2500-3000+ pounds more.
