Sounds a lot like me. I'm grown up in many ways, but I quite a kid in others—BMX biking is just one example of that. I suspect that many others who ride in their late years may be to same way. As much as society may this it's a trifle unusual, it's the way I am, and I've one life to live, so I go with it.

I figure one would have a true midlife crises if they failed to do the things they really want to do.
