On a tip from another C&V member earlier this year, I stopped by the Memphis Revolutions Co-Op to check out a Schwinn Voyageur. As fate would have it, I missed out on the Voyageur, but I came away with this 1986 Maruishi-built Nashbar Toure XC for $50. Following a good cleaning, I replaced the wheelset with a 7spd Shimano/700c Sun Mistral wheelset shod with 35s, a Deore LX front derailleur, an SRAM 8spd chain, Shimano PD-T100 pedals and a Brooks saddle. DT shifters mounted to bar end pods now handle the gear-change duties, and the Shimano non-aero brake levers gave way to Dia-Compe 252s. I thoroughly enjoyed the rebuild process and am so happy with the outcome. The ride quality is just so nice.
