You can store them in small urban homes/apartments. A lot of people with folders are folks who would, otherwise, store them outside, or on a balcony, risking theft and rust. You can easily transport them in a car without a rack, or getting grease on your seats, or removing wheels.

Folding bikes are very smart tools IMO.
They are popular in the marina areas. Boaters love them.
