Don't forget your neck either. A surprising amount of heat is lost from the neck, and if your neck gets cold it make the head feel colder. I use a
neck gaiter, it is one of my favorite pieces to toss in a pocket as a backup. It takes virtually no space, weights almost nothing, yet makes all the other clothing work so much better.
