If I recall correctly, the later, black-colored Accushift barcons had the micro-ratchet play on the front derailleur shifter. The rear derailleur shifter clicked in indexing mode and was smooth in friction mode.
The 6 speed Accushift rear bar-con was baby-bottom smooth in friction mode. The 7 speed Accushift rear bar-con has microclicks in friction mode. The 7 speed Accushift front bar-con has microclicks only. I don't have a front 6 speed Accushift bar-con to refer to but I suspect it was smooth, like the gray 6 speed thumbies of the day.
I think there was a third version of the Accushift plus barcons which I've never seen.
