Also, many of the parts are replaceable. The bikes are lighter than almost any other "OEM" models that I've ridden which, to me as a former weight weenie, reflects quality of design and materials (btw - I am not affiliated with them in any way, just had a blast for a month testing one of their bikes). In all fairness to Trek, their $1499 Electra rear hub cruiser seems excellent too although I haven't ridden one. Plus, FME, Trek's warranty is incomparable.
