I know this sounds condescending, but if I'm off base just ignore this post. But are you loosening your stem bolt each time you make this 'tweak' or just moving it by shear force. I really don't mean to be insulting, but if you are just forcing it each time you make an adjustment you'll end up making a nice little groove in the steerer tube and never be able to keep it in adjustment. And as soon as you get your bars straight your going to start in on your saddle adjustment, and that never ends. Good luck.
It's a threaded stem like we all had on our single speed Schwinns as children. I've been just twisting it without loosening it for all my life. We all did it that way back then. I just figured the technique was still valid.
