Some may say it to be cool but I just think it's a funny way to say it (though I don't) and also I don't want to be associated with "The LA" and that doesn't mean "The Lance Armstrong".

FYI I heard Huntington Beach refered to as "The HB" thirty years ago so this isn't a new thing.

Nobody has to feel left out, you can always call your county of origin "The BFE"

OC is also refered to as being behind the orange curtain although I would think we would actually be in front of it.
