For the record; I have no reason to believe xetaprime is racist or a white supremacist. He did a spectacular job of painting and restoring his bicycle, and he did it as a tribute to the car in the television show, "The Dukes of Hazard". The television show glossed over and ignored the evils of slavery as practiced by the nation and people the livery of the car alludes to.

And because of the show didn't concern itself with "that peculiar institution", to some people the "Stars and Bars", General Lee and the Confederacy simply suggest a rebellious spirit, "states rights" or the right to dissent.

But the descendants of slaves who were kidnapped and stolen, stripped of their cultural heritage as well as their humanity, torn from their families and family histories, physically and mentally tortured and abused, those descendants suffered through generation upon generation of slavery, followed by the criminally biased social structure and social codes left in slavery's wake. And it is only in the very most recent decades that some sort of equality has been reached.

Just this Christmas my mother-in-law explained to my grand kids that they didn't hang stockings by the fireplace growing up in Texas in the 1930s, because they didn't think Santa Claus bothered with black folks. My father-in-law had some frightening stories about making produce delivers as a teenager and being met on numerous occasions by shotgun yielding "good ol' boys" teasingly threatening to hang him.

My wife is just old enough to have learned to read in time to recognize the "white" and "colored" water fountains in the Texas town she grew up in and which one was for her and her family. Hint...it was the old rusty ones.

So excuse me if I get offended and upset over Confederate imagery.
