I checked the cable and I have wd 40 flushed it multiple times. It’s currently working, I recently had my lbs help me with the bike. It started shifting rough and I made it worse. Turned out to be a bent hanger and worn out chain, as well as my shifter on its way out. I just wanted a back up for when it does finally break.

I know there are other brands like micro shift, but i’m concerned with my ultegra being 20 years old, even a 9 speed micro shift shimano compatible will not function properly with it. I also don’t want to drop 150 on shifters, when I plan on replacing the bike when I can. I just don’t know how long it will be before I can replace it.
