TdF and SC are indistinguishable at the frame level and basically have whatever dropouts and fork ends Gitane could get their hands on while Peugeot and Motobecane were eating up all the inventory during the early 70s. For example, my TdF has Simplex rear, Campy front and came with a Sugino Mighty Comp crank. My other one has Campy front and back and came with a Stronglight crank.
Interesting, with the drop outs I was going with the catalog description but I know that is often off when it comes to boom era bikes.

My TdF (or at least I think it's a TdF ) has a TdF sticker on the fork and the checkered flag with the SC designation on the top tube like the subject bike (and simplex drop outs)
