I've been afflicted by my Edge flaking out and not properly reporting Varia readings in the middle of rides, would not recommend an Edge if the Varia is important as it's a well-known and unfixed problem where the only workaround is to disable the Bluetooth phone connection, meaning losing LiveTrack (which in turn is something that Garmin breaks every so often... you can see where this is going ).
