I don't mount the watch on the bars. Even if I wanted to they wouldn't really be amenable to it, and that would give up the buzz which is very noticeable on the wrist.
When my wife and I ride together she connects the radar to her Vivoactive 3. She doesn’t use a head unit but the watch vibrates and shows a dot on the side. It’s red when a car approaches, amber as it passes then beeps+vibrates and turns green once the car passes.
I use a Wahoo Bolt and am jealous of the watch interface. Although the beep from the Bolt is very loud
I wouldn’t hesitate to use it with a watch only.
