Yes. I can confirm that it'll handle a 28t gear when mounted on a bike with campag dropouts. I was surprised to see that it is only meant to go to 24t. I have a Suntour Cyclone GT from about 1976 that is in impeccable condition (i wish the same could be said for me) and my intention is to replace the Simplex with this much more highly regarded component. Plus i understand it should go to 34t which is much more appropriate for a touring bike built around a 531 frame.
