I'm 10 years younger than you and started doing some light weightliftinga few days a week in the evenings with 20-30 lb fixed-weight dumbells I bought at a sporting good's stores bankruptcy sale. Not heavy weights by any means, but its definitely done some good to get my upper body in condition; easier to do yardwork, lift stuff, climb ladders, do home repairs, 'hammer' up the hills on a bicycle
