I have a set of RebaShox Reba RL dual air with I understand 100mm travel

I'm having to buy a new frame as my restorating project's frame has had to be discared (hole in the rear and stripped bottom bracket thread).

A lot of the frames I'm looking at state fork travel of anywhere between 120mm and 130mm (on 29 inch wheels).

So my question - apart from the risk in bottoming out on my forks what difference will a shorter travel have on the bike set up? What do I lose and what should I be aware of or avoid?
