Wow, this is a stunning restoration! Thank you for sharing it. I have a green ‘72 with Nervex lugs that I bought as a frame and fork and rebuilt from collected parts. I’ll do a bi-color repaint eventually. I’ve always thought it a pity shame they didn’t either line the lugs or set them off with a contrasting color like the Carlton-badged bikes were. These fantastic lugs and other little frame details are practically lost with a single color.
Head tube with heron logo, Nervex lugs, and Simplex Gold friction shifters. Carlton and Raleigh really could have done more with the stock paint to highlight the gorgeous lugs. Even just a pit of gold or white lining - even black would have made a big difference.
