You don't ride past a cattle drives. They absolutely freak out and frankly I don't feel like getting run over by 1000+ pound animals.
Years ago when I lived in Texas I was on a group ride where a single cow had gotten out and was running along the fence line parallel to the road. Scary stuff, we were very happy when it slowed down and we just booked it out of there.
