Take your voltmeter and verify that the + and - signs molded into the plug are not lying, Then the red and black leads from the controller go to + and - respectively. I assume those pictures of the controller are the sellers pictures. Does your controller look the same?

Is this what they sent for a motor cable? Does your motor have the round 9 pin plug that fits the round connector in the picture? Your wiring will depend on these answers.
