Do yourself a favor and skip the chain whip. They are awkward to use and can slip if not set properly. Get a
Pedro's Vise Whip instead. Much easier to use, once it is latched on it won't fall off. And no bloody knuckles.
Work gloves are pretty handy in that regard, and will help you get a better grip to boot.
