I didn't even think about using resistance bands for deadlifts - I'll have to dig those out of the closet and give them a shot. I recall from the brief season when I went to a gym regularly that I particularly enjoyed deadlifts more than most other exercises.
Deadlifts can hurt you. and form is important. Actually, form is always important, which is why acclimation is always done slowly, and deliberately. Use your phone and record yourself.
