I have the same question - I've loosened both pinch bolts on the stem, and can't seem to get the cap off. None of the Future Shock videos or Specialized documentation I've seen show this part of the disassembly process, so I'm perplexed. I'm going to try and disassemble my girlfriends X 4.0 and see if it'll come off.
