Ill echo with what almost everyone has said here. Hitch mount is usually a better option.
I have a car (2019 Honda Insight) and still went with a hitch rack even though the car is plenty low enough to easily get a bike on and off the roof. The roof rack would have been more money ($800+ vs $400 for the hitch and rack) and had more negatives than I felt that it was worth. I run a RockyMounts Monorail because it is light and super easy to get the bike in and out. It also doesn’t touch the frame and doesn’t require removing the wheel.
