First is to ID what your bike has. Is it a 24TPIx68 shell or the 26tpi one? Next is to see what's the offending aspect preventing the insertion of the new BB. The Super Course was made in both the common Raleigh factory (26TPI) and the Carlton plant (24TPI. So either shell might be in play. I forget where but Raleigh serial numbers have been listed on a website and this info might suggest more detail.
BTW a simple thread pitch gage will discern between a 24 and 26 tpi cup. Do you still have the OEM cups? Andy
I do still have the original cups still. I'm not sure if be able tell which one I have though.
