My dad worked his butt off for forty years to the point it damaged his health. My mom worked off and on until my brother was born, took a break except for volunteer work until he was in high school then worked for the state of Washington for 17 years and wound up with Cadillac level health insurance and a much bigger pension than my dad received. He never mentioned it bothering him, but now I wonder if it did. I'm kind of wishing I'd asked him but then I never asked him what it was like to watch Jackie Robinson play and I wonder about that even more. We watched so much baseball together and it never occurred to me until after he was gone.
