Fortunately you're in TX which AFAIK allows almost anything with pedals to go anywhere (but I could be wrong); in CA it would stick out like the proverbial sore thumb and not allowed in off road areas except where ATV's are permitted. The forks you mention should be great for the street and some DNM for dirt. I've dealt only with Fox and Rock Shox so not familiar with them. Let us know how well it goes together and rides.
