Back in the market for a cool, small frame.

Thanks all.
Jjames,
It is possible to sometimes weld the broken drop out, depends on the break/crack (some dry ice or liquid N to keep the tubes cool from the heat of the weld). Or replacing the dropout. You did have the E-bay buyers insurance didn't you? That should cover the cost of repairs, and re-paint. But it wouldn't be completely authentic at that point.
My Peloton that went to WB suffered the same thing back in 1987, and we were able to braze a new drop out in. It survived till now and has had two paint jobs, and will live for a few more thousand miles. It would be a cool addition to the bike's history that it had been rescued from near destruction and restored to the correct frame dimensions.
I haven't seen anything that nice in a bike lately, but there may still be one out there. best of luck in moving forward on this. Smiles, MH
