That always bothered me as a child. "Have some rhubarb, it's great! Oh, by the way, don't eat the leaves, you'll die." Say, what?!?!
That very well could be it, a subconscious mental block. Fortunately I trust my wife enough that if she coaxes me to try some I'll have a fork full.
