Yeah, it's tempting to switch the cranks--- but this bike is such a race-bred machine, I think I may just keep the 107 and save this bike for the slightly less hilly rides.... if you go mostly north-south in the VT valleys, the hills are just rollers and not usually more than a few hundred meters long, so I can probably just grunt over them in the 42x28.
I rode yesterday with the shimano 14-28 freewheel and the rear wheel moved back in the dropout slot enough to clear---- and the bike shifts and feel great! My first Columbus SL frame.... maybe there's something to this Italian stuff.
