While Mel Pinto may have eventually acquired the Cortina brand name, the 1973 spec/price list states Cortina Bicycle Co, Inc. of NYC. Mel Pinto Imports was located in Falls Church, Virginia at the time. Further investigation into Cortina revealed the company dating back to the mid-1950s when the product line was skis and skiing accessories. They diversified into snowmobiles circa 1969 and added bicycles as a complimentary summer product line for the 1972 model year.

The member who bumped the thread has opened another thread where I've requested serial number and pictures, in an attempt to determine the exact year and contract manufacturer.
