One thing I remember about my 1980s Sidis was that the stock nylon cleats they came with were tight on the pedal cages to begin with and tended to close up even more with just a little bit of walking on them. A couple of times I tried to get them to release and instead pulled my foot out of the shoe due to them being so tight. I would definitely not go back to that setup.
