True story. I currently have a ZipLock quart bag filled with ice cubes, containing four Modolo brake block holders with ancient blocks, sitting in my freezer. According to a 2010 BF thread, this will cause the blocks to shrink enough that I can get them out of the holders without a punch or pounding. It's for a vintage build, and KoolStop replacement blocks are coming in the mail.

I use the freezer for that type of thing as well. Putting bearings in the freezer helps pressing them in, for certain applications. I have also put a gun in the freezer when the rear sight adjustment would not turn, after someone cranked it all the way to the end. After the night in the freezer, it turned back out freely.
