With carbon fiber, you need to be careful with torquing anything that contacts the tubing. But at least there's no danger of damaging paint or decals when you don't clamp on a frame tube.

No. I have the predecessor to the ISC-4, the ISC-1. But I do have several posts in various diameters as well, and steel posts aren't all that expensive, especially if there's a co-op or used bike shop where you can pick them up really cheap.
