About a week ago I returned my Mercian Vincitore fixed-gear to its original configuration - 28 mm tires, SKS fenders, 16 & 18T fixed cogs - and today was the first time I'd ridden this bike this year. It's been more than a decade since I last rode the third hill on Klugh Road, and I'd forgotten what an abrupt drop-off it is. Strava says I hit 34.9 mph spinning a 70-in fixed gear, my fastest fixed-gear moment in 20 years. I was grateful to turn off onto Blue Jay/Old Hodges Road, where these pix were taken, and I was happy to stop for a moment in the scenic Hodges, SC for the obligatory bike picture. It was a lovely 23-mile ride.
