Wet lubes definitely last longer, I use it for gravel, because as mentioned, a dry lube usually doesn't last long enough when you're out on the gravel all day. But it's messier, and creates gunk. Not a huge issue for me since the bike gets a full wash after hitting the gravel. For the road I use MucOff dry tho, but I lube just about every ride, might skip if it was a short ride. It's cleaner and easier to work with since the bike only gets a wipe down in between dry road rides.
