For the latter I have a Garmin UT800 - it has a ton of smart features, none of which I use. I just manually turn it on as needed, either flash or low to be seen, or high to see the road in front of me.

Both mount easily to a K-Edge combo out front mount. The Ion RT with a small adapter, the UT800 directly. The UT800 also comes with a Garmin mount adapter. (Edit: seems there are different models with different mount kits.)
Thanks I think I'll end up going with the Ion. It'll do what I need. And yes, I plan to grab the Blendr adapter and connect it to my K-Edge!
