Several years back I was reading a novel in which the main character is a digger/miner in WWI (Songbird ‘Birdsong’ iirc) and could hardly finish some of the underground chapters and ever since have trouble with tight spaces to the level that worries me .
Late life onset of “anxiety” disorders is definitely a thing.

As I mentioned above, my daughter and I dove a series of freshwater caves in Florida when she was collecting specialty dives for Divemaster. They were roped, but pretty tight, very dark, and very cold. I feel no need to go back.
