Agreed. If I don’t have confirmation that the bell was heard, I say “Bike passing on your left”, to be clear. If there are additional bikes about to pass, I’ll say “X number of bikes passing on your left”.

Good on ya! I'd be afraid of messing up the count. I'm sort of kidding.
I do think my strategy is based on having a relatively loud voice so I can get the full sentence out audibly before passing.
