I often considered using a hammock tent but when I compared the weight of it to a cheap nylon pup tent the difference wasn't that much. iirc, this pup tent with poles and all weighs only 4.5 pounds.

Nice little pup tent. Does it have a rain fly? I have the REI Passage 1 tent. I will use it when I know I will have problems hanging the hammock, due to campground policies mainly. I may even take both at times, since the hammock is so lightweight.
