Well... In 1978 I flew with my bike into Oklahoma to explore the eastern side of the state. A map showed the quickest route included a road through a large Air Force base. I rolled up to the busy gate entrance in a long line of cars. Each employee or soldier would flash an ID to one of the MP's and in they went. When I got up there, the MP just waved me on. While I didn't think anything about it, I was riding a PX10 loaded with touring bags front and back. Anyway, I got about a mile into the base when a scene from NCIS popped up around me. Three police vehicles with lights and sirens raced up and surrounded me, and while not drawing any weapons, made it clear that they were ready to. They began questioning me - Who are you? What was I doing there? Was I alone? On and on. Shortly two more vehicles showed with some big shots who had many more questions for me.
After a long while they finally believed my story and we (mostly them) got a chuckle on how I made it into a secure weapons storage area. I was spotted on camera and the loaded bags drew extra suspicion to my motives. Remember, this was long before the OKC bombing, 9/11, etc,
Oh, I believe that MP that waved me in is still doing push ups.
