Correct. More importantly, it was the name of the Belgian newspaper which started organizing the Omloop van Vlaanderen race after WWII. Because of its name's similarity to the Ronde van Vlaanderen they changed the name to Omloop Het Volk. When Het Volk merged with Het Nieuwsblad (The Newspaper) in 2008 they changed the name again to Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
In 1953 they still rode for real prizes: booze, cigarettes, watches, radios. Ah, the good old days!
