Hi I was wondering if anyone has experience with Shimano Afine hubs? I found this wheel in hard rubbish and was considering trying to install it on a bike. Here I’ve got it mounted on my Kona sutra with the chain running through the derailleur. The wheel seems to turnover okay when I pedal the cranks and isn’t noisey at all, but I don’t seem to be able to change the gears at all by pulling the lever that the cable would usually activate. I understand these have years required dedicated shifters and don’t work with the usual Shimano indexing system. Is there some way of determining whether this hub is stuffed or whether it may be resurrected bull, without spending too much money? I was hoping not to have to invest in a shifter if it’s not worth while because it’s damaged etc. any advice would be much appreciated!
