Well, did replacing the bearings "fix" the problem? If so and if the bearing was the OEM spec version then one could claim that there was/is nothing wrong with the BB shell, it didn't need the OS spec bearing. As far as I understand the warranty situation it's the frame that is covered and not a bearing.
But if the problem remained after the bearing install and if the bearing was the OEM spec then one would think the problem remains and is likely the shell's "fault".
As far as the cost- we charge $40 for the bearing kit (OEM or OS spec) and $30 for the labor currently. Of course there can be secondary parts that sometimes are needed. Also the cost of doing business in much of CA is higher then many other locals so no surprise that P and/or L might be higher then here in a mid sized rust belt city. Andy
He said the bearing was 'loose'. There's no way a standard bearing will 'fix' the problem.
